There are still people in the world, who have never visited a dentist. Not out of fear of unpleasantness, but because of never having had a chance to do so.... Benchen Monastery Free Clinic is a medical institution operating at the Tibetan Buddhist Benchen Monastery in Kathmandu. It is one of the very few charity projects run in the Kingdom of Nepal, which belongs to the group of the poorest countries in the world. The dental branch of the Clinic was established in 1998 by Polish dentist, Dr. Wojciech Ryncarz. After a few years he was joined by another Polish dentist, Dr. Agata Turkiewicz, who works voluntarily at the Clinic at least 3 month per year. Currently the Benchen Monastery Free Dental Clinic is the only clinic in Nepal, which provides dental help fully free of charge to both the Tibetan and Nepalese community. Recently the Clinic started to take care about children from various orphanages in Kathmandu. In Poland the Benchen Monastery Free Dental Clinic functions as financially independent project of "Students for Free Tibet Association". Our main goal is to create a stable basis for the clinic's activities in Nepal, which is completely dependent upon the donated funds. We heartily thank all the supporters.
